Bonnie Fifield


AUBURN – Bonnie Fifield, 94, of Auburn, died Friday, Jan. 26, at Clover Manor.

She was born May 2, 1912, in Lewiston, the daughter of Lloyd Holbrook Additon of Augusta and Goldie Alice Hayward of Cooper.

She graduated from Edward Little High School in 1929.

She married John “Jack” Giberson in Auburn on June 24, 1929, and had two daughters by the marriage, Virginia and Margaret.

Her second marriage was to Bill Fifield, a Navy officer.

She worked for the state of Maine in civil defense during the 1950s and ’60s. During the 1970s and ’80s, she created the Maine Safety Council, where she worked until her retirement.

She is survived by her sister, Edith “Babe” Norris of Auburn; a nephew, Bruce Norris of Clinton, N.J.; and a daughter, Margaret Bragdon and her husband, Fred, of Peak’s Island; grandchildren, Mike Walton Sr. and his wife, Margie, of Clinton, Paul and Marti Grady and their three children, Matthew, Jonathon, and Rebecca of Springfield, Va., Jack and Erin Hooper and their son, Jack, of Mesa, Ariz., and Rick and Christie Hooper and their daughter, Leila, of Chico, Calif.; a great-granddaughter, Emily Rose of New Hampshire and her son, Devin; and great-grandsons Michael Wm. Walton Jr. of Grand Forks, N.D., and Steven Walton of Hillsboro, N.H.

She was predeceased by her daughter, Virginia Additon Giberson.
