HARRISON — Boxberry School students have been delving into their new geology learning expedition focusing on rocks and minerals.
Recently the students took a field trip to Maine Mineral Adventures in Woodstock where they sifted through mine buckets on the search for gemstones. Afterward, they headed to Tamminen Quarry in Greenwood to dig on their own.
Students returned with many little treasures including tourmaline, purple lepidolite, and cookeite. Students have also been learning about the rock cycle and how different sedimentary, igneous and metamorphic rocks are formed.
