LEWISTON — Senior forward Brian Hall had a goal and an assist as Lewiston notched a 4-1 victory over Maranacook-Hall Dale-Winthrop in boys’ ice hockey action Friday.
The Blue Devils (8-2-1) peppered three unanswered goals in the first period.
Goalie Tyler Plante turned back 23 shots for the Hawks, while goalie Evan Bourassa repelled 11 to earn the win in net for Lewiston.
Freeport 62, Poland 56
FREEPORT — Chandler Birmingham dropped in 23 points to lead Freeport to a 62-56 victory over Poland in boys’ basketball action Friday.
The contest was tied with 4:30 remaining in regulation. But the Falcons (2-1) finished with an 18-12 run. Jack Davenport provided 13 points for Freeport.
CJ Martin and Nick Allen netted 12 points each in a balanced attack for the Knights (3-1). Tyler Michaud chipped in with another 10 points for Poland.
Hampden 82, Mt. Blue 23
HAMPDEN — Nicholas Gilpin hit for a game-high 13 points and brother Zach Gilpin added 11 to lead a balanced Hampden Academy squad to an 82-23 victory over Mt. Blue in boys’ basketball action Friday.
Twelve different players scored for the Broncos (14-0), who continued to strengthen their hold on the top seed in Eastern Class A.
Kindle Bonsall led the Cougars (1-13) with five.
Vinalhaven 58, Rangeley 21
RANGELEY — Shane Carlson led a balanced scoring attack with 10 points as Vinahlhaven dominated Rangeley from start to finish in a 58-21 win Friday night.
Vinalhaven (3-10) led by eight after the first quarter, then took command with a 17-6 second quarter.
Michael Haley and A.J. Elmes scored eight points apiece to lead the Lakers (2-8).
St. Dom’s 51, Carrabec 24
AUBURN — Matt Dyer and Eric Ulin slotted 12 points apiece as St. Dom’s beat Carrabec to a 51-24 victory in boys’ basketball action Friday.
The Saints jumped out to a 38-11 lead at intermission. Zak Johnson contributed 11 points for St. Dom’s.
Boog Dunphy posted a team-leading eight points as only five players scored for the Cobras .
Lewiston 75, Brewer 58
BREWER — Lewiston (9-5) dominated the third quarter and Donne Agousso scored 16 points as Lewiston rolled to a 75-58 victory over Brewer in a boys’ basketball game Friday night.
Josh Thomas and Isiah Harris each scored 15 points for the Blue Devils. Both teams launched the long range stuff, firing off a total of 17 3-pointers.
EL 58, Brunswick 54
BRUNSWICK — Edward Little overcame a 13-point, first-half deficit and scored 36 of its 58 points in the final two quarters to beat Brunswick, 58-54, in boys’ basketball game Friday night.
Quin Leary’s 15 led three Red Eddies in double figures, followed by Nate Alexanders’ 13 and 11 from Sean Ford.
Brunswick was led by Blake Gordon with 15 points, 12 by Conor Scarponi, and Alex Bandouveres chipped in with 10.
Medomak 42, Leavitt 37
WALDOBORO — Medomak held off a furious fourth quarter rally by Leavitt boys to hold on to a 42-37 victory over Leavitt in a boys’ basketball game Friday.
Medomak’s Jackson Vail led all scorers with 13, while the Hornets’ top scorer was Max Green with 10.
