MADISON — Tom Ventrella broke the game open with a two-run double with two outs in the sixth inning to lead Livermore Falls to a 6-0 victory over Madison in an MVC baseball game played Thursday.
Andre Uter (2-0) and Chandler White combined on a four-hitter mshutout with 12 strikeouts for the Andies.
Livermore Falls (10-2) was clinging to a 2-0 lead when it erupted for three runs in the sixth. Immediately after Ventrella’s two-out, two-run double, Shawn Whiting followed with an RBI single to open up a five-run cushion.
Brian Maurais had two hits, including a double for the Andies. Pitcher Travis Emerson had two of Madison’s four hits.
Oxford Hills 18, Edward Little 9
AUBURN — Senior catcher Matt Verrier produced six RBIs on a double, triple and sacrifice fly to lead Oxford Hills to an 18-9 victory over Edward Little in KVAC baseball action Thursday.
The Vikings (8-3) were outhit 14-9, but took advantage of 15 walks. B.J. Croy went 2-for-4, including a solo home run, and scored three times for Oxford Hills.
Sophomore shortstop Luc Farrago paced the Red Eddies (5-6) with three hits, two runs and three RBIs in the losing effort.
Oak Hill 14, Maranacook 3
WALES — Senior pitcher Cody Plourde went the distance and struck out 14 as Oak Hill scooped up a 14-3 victory over Maranacook in KVAC baseball action Thursday.
The Raiders (5-6) were trailing 3-0 in the third inning before tying the score in the bottom of the frame. Plourde notched a three-run double in the sixth inning, and Brett Turcotte added a two-run home run to end the game on the 10-run mercy rule.
Josh Prue had two hits and four RBIs, while Craig Morrill notched three hits for Oak Hill.
Junior shortstop David Duplisie pushed two runs across the plate with a double in the third inning for the Black Bears (5-6).
Georges Valley 14, Monmouth 4
THOMASTON — Senior third baseman Ian Anderson smashed a bases-loaded double to plate three runs as Georges Valley cruised to a 14-4 victory over Monmouth in MVC baseball action Thursday.
The Buccaneers (5-5) rallied for eight runs in the second inning to take an 8-2 lead. Junior right fielder Sam Tarbox belted a two-run home run for Georges Valley, while Alex Wallace recorded a pair of doubles in the winning effort.
Senior shortstop David Hobson had two hits, including a home run for the Mustangs (0-10).
Jay 6, Carrabec 1
NORTH ANSON — Catcher Jared Ouellette tabulated three hits to lead Jay to a 6-1 triumph over Carrabec in MVC baseball action Thursday.
Jay pitcher Eli Capen struck out seven to capture a one-hit mound victory for the Tigers (5-6). Mat Ferland contributed a pair of singles for Jay.
Freshman pitcher Brandon LeHay struck out six and had the only hit on offense for the Cobras (1-10) in the losing effort.
Gray-NG 6, Poland 4
POLAND – Taylor Valente blasted a three-run home run in the top of the seventh inning Thursday, rallying Gray-New Gloucester to a 6-4 victory over Poland in Western Maine Conference baseball.
Ryan Blenk and Ryan Cavallaro had two hits each for the Patriots (6-6). Heath Martell added a double.
Cam Spiller delivered a double for the Knights (2-10). Logan Nichols, Mike Littlefield, Devin Goyette and Connor King each chalked up two singles.
