Club field trip

AUBURN – The Woman’s Literary Union Garden Club will go on a field trip Friday, July 27, to the Coast of Maine Botanical Gardens in Boothbay. Those interested in going should meet at the clubhouse, 19 Elm St., at 9 a.m. They will car pool from there. The trip will not take place if it is raining. If unsure, call 784-1868.

Crafters needed

POLAND – The 25th annual PTA Craft Fair will be held Saturday, Nov. 17, at the Poland Community School. Crafters are needed. Call 998-4013 and leave a message.

Rotary speaker

LEWISTON – Johanna Lloyd, past president of the Auburn-Lewiston Rotary Club, will speak at noon Thursday, July 26, to the Lewiston-Auburn Rotary Club. Lloyd’s son, Mark, was born with congenital hydrocephalus and agenesis of the corpus allosum.

The club meets Thursday noons at the Ramada Inn. Anyone wishing to hear the speaker is welcome. Weekly buffet luncheons are $8 a person. Access for more information about Rotary.

Bridge winners

LEWISTON – The Lewiston-Auburn Social Bridge Club winners at the Multi-Purpose Center on July 23 were: first, Martine Begert and Rosemarie Goodwin; second, Joanne and Bill Soterion; third, Marta Clements and Nancy Farmer; fourth, Jan Arey and Linda Leotsakos; first in B, Eileen Potvin and Della Starbird; second in B, Lucille Bilodeau and Alberta Turner.

Notes birthday

AUBURN – Alice Lavallee, who turned 93 on July 20, was joined by some of her family at the Odd Fellows Rebekahs Home to help her celebrate. Cake, ice cream and beverages were served. Those attending were her son, Peter Lavallee, and wife, Claire; daughter, Marie Pike, and husband, Brian; daughter, Alice Smith; son-in-law, Robert Vallee; and grandchildren, Diane Labonte, Bobby Vallee and Sallie Hackett, Christina Gillespie and Steven Lavallee.
