Library events

WILTON – The Wilton Public Library summer reading activities for next week are announced.

Tuesday, July 24, at 10:30 a.m. children will listen to Wilton Police Chief Dennis Brown read a pourquoi tale. Sherry Walwrath will interpret in American sign language. They will do an activity with artifacts.

At 6 p.m. Wednesday, July 25. ages 10 and older will hear Margy Burns Knight, author of “Talking Walls.” She will lead a discussion about her books.

On Thursday, July 26, at 6 p.m. Angela Klinger, the storyteller, will share legends about the land.

On Friday, July 27, at 1 p.m. children will meet at the library before visiting the Wilton Historical Museum. Children must be accompanied by an adult.

Rummage sale

SALEM – The Salem Community United Methodist Church will host its annual rummage sale from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Friday, Aug. 10, and 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 11, at the Salem Community Building, Route 142.

Items will include furniture, office supplies, children’s clothes, toys, baby furniture and carriages, adult clothing, books, puzzles and kitchenware. Saturday afternoon will be “fill a bag for a buck.”

Refreshments will be on sale. Volunteers are needed. All proceeds will benefit the church moving project. For more information, call 678-2877.
