OXFORD – Lake Thompson Fish and Game will hold a family fun day from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sunday, July 15, at the facility on the Paine Road. There will be running a deer shoot and a trap shoot. Rain date will be Sunday, July 22.
Marine finishes basic training
P.F.C. Brandon T. Slattery, a 2006 graduate of Poland Regional High School has completed Basic Training from Paris Island Marine Base in South Carolina and Security Training in Chesapeake, Virginia. Brandon is now stationed at the Naval Submarine base in Kings Bay, Georgia.Brandon is the son of Tanya Campbell of Port Charlotte, Florida and Wayne Slattery of West Minot.

PERU – The women of Stephens High School Class of 1948 will meet at 11:30 a.m. Thursday, July 19, at Anna Shaw’s camp at Murray’s Cove. Bring a bag lunch. Call Anna at 562-4551 if planning to attend.
DIXFIELD – The Dixfield Main Street Outdoor Market Committee met on June 26 to discuss plans for this year’s market, which will be held from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 19. Vendor spots are available for a $15 fee, which will be used to advertise the event.
Any money not used for advertising will fund local projects, such as hanging floral baskets in downtown Dixfield and a donation to the historical society.
The road race will be held early in the morning and will start from the village green. For more information about participating in the road race, call Paul at 562-7172.
Vendor spots are 10-by-15-feet, and applications may be picked up at Log Cabin Craftworks. Call 562-8816 daytime for details. Schools are welcome to participate.
