WEST PARIS – The Finnish-American Heritage Society of Maine will begin its summer schedule on Sunday, July 8, with an open house from 2 to 4 p.m. at the Heritage Center on Maple Street. There will be no formal program. Drop-in visitors will be greeted with coffee and goodies and are free to visit the library, gift shop and museum. Open house will be held every Sunday in July and August, with the exception of Aug. 19.
Yard, bake sale
OXFORD – The Oxford Historical Society will hold a yard and bake sale beginning at 9 a.m. Saturday, July 14, at the Kay House, 73 Pleasant St. It will be held rain or shine.
WEST PARIS – Friends of West Paris Library are collecting books for the annual book sale to be held Saturday, Aug. 4. Gently used books of all genres are welcomed and can be left at the library on Mondays from 1:30 to 6 p.m., Wednesdays 1:30 to 7 p.m. or Fridays 1:30 to 6 p.m.
Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. are another option for those wishing to drop off books. This year’s sale will be held from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday, Aug. 4, on the lawn at the library on Main Street.
NORWAY – The Parkinson’s Support Group will have a speaker at 2 p.m. Thursday, July 26, in the Stephens Memorial Hospital board room. Carl Barker, APDA president, will speak to the group on caregiver issues. For more information, call Marianne Gallo, LCSW, at 207-743-7086.
PARIS – The Paris Public Library’s annual book sale will be held from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturdays, July 28 and Aug. 4, with a bag sale on Aug. 11, in the truck bays of the old Paris Fire Station, Pine Street, South Paris.
Hardcover books will sell for $1 each, trade paperbacks will cost 50 cents and mass market paperbacks will be priced at 25 cents each. The library’s storage area is overflowing with thousands of titles, but donations for the sale are always welcome and may be dropped off anytime at the Paris Public Library.
