BRYANT POND – The Franklin Grange 124 of Main Street will host a craft and food sale and flea market fair from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, July 7, at the grange hall.
A light lunch will be available at noon. There will be music by the Richard G. Felt Band.
BRYANT POND – The Whitman Memorial Library will hold a book sale from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, July 7.
BUCKFIELD – The annual Strawberry Festival will be held on Saturday, July 7, beginning at 10 a.m. at the Buckfield Legion Hall on Route 140. There will be steamed hot dogs, homemade strawberry shortcake, a food sale, potted perennial plants and a yard sale.
Society bake sale
NORWAY – The Finnish-American Heritage Society of Maine will hold its annual bake sale on Saturday, July 7, beginning at 9 a.m. in the parking lot of Dow’s Law Office, 266 Main St. Rain location is at the Second Congregational Church. There will be a variety of Finnish and American baked goods.
NORWAY – Bakers from the Second Congregational Church will sell their homemade pies starting at 9 a.m. Saturday, July 7.
The sale, sponsored by the board of trustees, will be held under the large white tent on the corner of Main and Paris streets. Apple, blueberry, chocolate, custard, rhubarb, pumpkin and peach will be some of the 100 pies that will be for sale. Large, whole pies will sell for $8.50.
Individual pieces and coffee will also be available. Proceeds from the pie sale will benefit the church.
PARIS – A baked bean supper will be held Saturday, July 7, at the First Baptist Church of Paris. Sittings will be held at 5 and 6 p.m. There will be several kinds of beans, hot dogs, lasagna, macaroni and cheese, coleslaw, salad, brown bread, yeast rolls, pies, coffee, ice tea, water and punch.
The cost is $6 for adults and $4 for children under 12. Containers of beans will be available for take-out.
Proceeds will be used for office equipment and developing a Web site for the church. For more information, call 743-5198.
OTISFIELD – This year’s swim lessons will begin on Monday, July 30, and end on Friday, Aug. 17. Lessons will be held at the Pleasant Lake town beach, off Powhattan Road.
Lesson times are afternoons again this year, beginning at 1 p.m.
The cost is $5. New this year, lessons will include a session for mothers, fathers and infants. Sign-ups can be completed at the town office on Route 121.
Annual duck race
WATERFORD – The Waterford PTO will hold the third annual duck race on the Common after the Fourth of July festivities.
The race will start at approximately noon Wednesdays. Tickets are $5 each or $20 for a book.
Prizes include lift tickets to local ski areas, certificates for restaurants and local eateries, handmade items and a gift card for Wal-Mart. Tickets will be on sale at the PTO table on the Common during the Fourth of July festivities or at the Wilkins Community House breakfast. Advance tickets may be purchased at Springer’s General Store or Melby’s Market. All proceeds will benefit field trips for the children of Waterford Elementary School.
