Parade theme

FARMINGTON – The theme for this year’s July 4 parade is Great American Movies. Parade participants may begin check-in at the Mallett School parking lot on Middle Street at 8:30 a.m., with judging of floats at 9:15. The parade will begin at 10 a.m. Wednesday, July 4, and go through downtown Farmington.

Dog training

PHILLIPS – SAD 58 Adult and Community Education will offer an advanced canine training course beginning Wednesday, July 11, and running for eight weeks from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Wednesdays at the NorthStar Ambulance bay. The instructor is canine trainer Carol Rogers.

Cost of the course is $75 a canine. Participants must have successfully passed a basic obedience course or will need permission of the instructor to register. Class size is limited to four dogs per session and up to two sessions will be available if numbers allow.

Women’s meeting

WILTON- The Western Mountain Women’s Connection meeting will feature “The Great Maine Outdoors” by Mike Keim of Weld from 11:15 a.m. to 1:15 p.m. Tuesday, July 10, at Kineowatha Park. Cost of $10 is all inclusive. Guest speaker will be Alice Kellogg of Burlington, Vt., discussing “Obstacle Course.”
