New pastor

SUMNER – The Congregational Church of East Sumner has welcomed the Rev. Nancy Miaoulis as the new pastor and her husband, George, and son, Nicholas. Pastor Miaoulis will lead the service at 9 a.m. Sunday, Jan. 7. It will include a communion service. Sunday school will be held from 9 to 10 a.m., and there will be a coffee hour following the service. The community is invited to join in welcoming Pastor Miaoulis.

Energy workshop

NORWAY – Jim Marshal, in association with Sustainable Western Maine, will present “An Introduction to Solar Electricity,” part I of the alternative energy workshop series, from 7 to 8 p.m. Monday, Jan. 22, at the Fare Share Commons, Main Street.

The presentation will cover the basics of a stand-alone solar electric home power system.

Topics will include a history of home power systems and the components needed to build a home power system.

There will be a $10 fee payable at the door. For more information, contact Marshall at 743-1068.

Craft fair

BRIDGTON – The annual winter craft fair wll be held from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, Jan. 20 and 21, at the Bridgton Community Center.

It will feature pottery, jewelry, quilts and jams. There will also be live entertainment as well as a cafe featuring hot dogs, homemade soups, breads, desserts and beverages. Proceeds will benefit the senior transportation program in Bridgton.

Sunday worship

PARIS – “Worship through Music” will be the focus of the 10 a.m. service on Sunday, Jan. 7, at the First Universalist Church, 36 Pine St., South Paris.

Forest Perkins, church organist and choir director, will present a program of “Great Protestant Hymns and Songs of Inspiration,” using the church’s Moller Pipe Organ. Renee Wales will lead the Sunday school. Child care will be provided.

Brunch will follow in Good Cheer Hall. Everyone is welcome.

Family night

NEWRY – The Black Diamond Family entertainment series will present Nickelodeon’s Family Festival Nights from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 9, and Wednesday, Jan. 10, in the Grand Ballroom of the Grand Summit Resort Hotel, Sunday River Ski Resort. A juggling workshop with Trickster Fox will be held from 6 to 7 p.m. Admission is free. For more information, call 824-3000.
