Church speaker

FARMINGTON – The Rev. Douglas Walrath will be the guest speaker on Sunday, May 28, at the worship services of Fairbanks Union Church and the New Portland Community Churches.

Walrath has written several books and is a frequent speaker on the topic of “Small Church Ministry.” He is Professor Emeritus of Bangor Theological Institute and recently delivered the address to the graduates at the institute’s 187th commencement exercises.

Worship services at Fairbanks Union Church begin at 9 a.m. and New Portland and North New Portland Churches meet at 11 a.m. at the New Portland church in the west village. Everyone is invited.

Grange meeting

LIVERMORE – New Norlands Grange will meet at 7 p.m. on Saturday, May 27, when a memorial service will be conducted by Melvina Souther, chaplain. Emily Pike, lecturer, will present a program. Refreshments will be served.

Gospel program

WILTON – Gospel singer Chris Kibbe of Enfield, Conn., will perform at 10:30 a.m. on Sunday, June 4, at the Wilton United Methodist Church.

In the family show with audience participation, Kibbe, with his guitar, will sing southern-type gospel music. He performs all over New England, New York and Pennsylvania.

He has recorded several CDs, including his latest one of all original songs titled “Storyteller.” Everyone is invited. A free-will offering will be taken.

Club to meet

SALEM – The Salem ATV Club (Mt. Abram Trail Riders) will meet at 2 p.m. on Sunday, June 4, at Mt. Abram High School.

Women to sing

FARMINGTON – There is an opportunity this summer for Farmington area women who love to sing. Rehearsals for a concert of Vivaldi’s “Gloria,” in a version for women’s voices, will begin at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, June 6.

The chorus will meet on Tuesday evenings through June and July and hold a concert on Sunday, Aug. 6. The concert and all rehearsals will be held at Henderson Memorial Baptist Church on Academy Street. The director will be Dan Woodward and accompanist will be Robin Barron.

The chorus is open to all women from middle school through adults. There are also opportunities for three to five soloists. A small fee to help cover music costs will be collected. For more information, call 778-4572.

Women’s program

WILTON – Those who are seeking peace are invited to the next meeting of the local chapter of the Western Mountain Women’s Connection to be held from 11:15 to 1:15 p.m. on Tuesday, June 6, at the Boiler Room, Main Street.

Along with a meal, Rick Messana will sing and portray Tevye from “Fiddler on the Roof.” Special guest will be Nancy Rictor of Maryland, who will speak on “Peace through all Circumstances.”

Summer fest

CARRABASSETT VALLEY – The first annual Carrabassett Summer Festival will take place from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturday, June 24, in downtown Carrabassett Valley. There will be a fly-in at the Sugarloaf Regional Airport, along with a juried art show and demonstrations, live music featuring Dave Mallett and a skate park exhibition. Employee named

FARMINGTON – Maureen Heintz was chosen as Employee of the Month at Orchard Park Rehab and Living Center for March. Heintz has been at Orchard Park since 2004. She started as a dietary aide and has since worked her way up to cook. Heintz enjoys shopping and spending time with her family in her free time.
