RUMFORD – Nomination papers for several municipal positions are available at the town office. Those who wish to run must gather the signatures of 50 registered voters and turn in papers by 4 p.m. Monday, May 15.
Open positions include two three-year terms on the board of selectmen; two three-year terms on the SAD 43 board of directors; one three-year term on the board of assessors; and one one-year term on the board of assessors.
RUMFORD – The Rumford and Mexico Horseshoe Club plays at 6 p.m. every Monday in the pits at Hosmer Field. Members must be age 18. New this year, women are welcome to join.
Car wash, bake sale
RUMFORD – The River Valley Christian School students are planning to hold a car wash and bake sale at the information booth from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Thursday and Friday, May 4 and 5, weather permitting.
The students are planning a trip to Pennsylvania this spring to learn more about the Amish people and their customs. All funds raised during this event will be used for expenses related to the field trip.
The public is invited to stop by for a car wash, baked goods or to make a donation. For more information, call the school at 364-4404 or 369-0337.
DIXFIELD – The Adult Reading Group of the Ludden Memorial Library will be on hiatus during June, July and August.
Meetings will resume in the fall when new members will be welcomed. Tea and coffee are served in the reading nook of the downstairs community room.
The first meeting will be Tuesday, Sept. 5, the day after Labor Day. Members will resume the regular meeting schedule of 11 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. the first Tuesday of each month.
Those wishing to join are asked to call or stop by the library to sign up. The library will send out postcards with the meeting date.
