Rural Life Sunday

FARMINGTON – The Fairbanks Union Church and the New Portland churches at the West New Portland Church will celebrate Rural Life Sunday on May 7 with a special service, the Blessing of the Plants and Animals.

The theme of the service will be “Rural Life,” and it is traditional that people coming to the worship service may, if they wish, bring pets, farm animals, plants, soil, to receive a blessing.

The special service at Fairbanks Union Church will begin at 9 a.m. and the New Portland service will begin at 11. The Rev. Scott Planting will be preaching. Everyone is invited. For more information, call 778-4705.

Reading vacation

DIXFIELD – The Adult Reading Group of the Ludden Memorial Library will be on hiatus during June, July and August.

Meetings will resume in the fall when new members will be welcomed. Tea and coffee are served in the reading nook of the downstairs community room.

The first meeting will be Tuesday, Sept. 5, the day after Labor Day. Members will resume the regular meeting schedule of 11 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. the first Tuesday of each month.

Those wishing to join are asked to call or stop by the library to sign up. The library will send out postcards with the meeting date.
