Ensemble visit

WILTON – The Acadia Brass Ensemble will visit the Wilton Academy Hill School and Cascade Brook School on Friday, April 28. The visit is part of the BSO’s “Know Your Orchestra!” education outreach program – one way the symphony helps teachers meet core curriculum goals and the Maine Learning Results. It is also an opportunity for students to experience live performances by professional musicians in the schools.

Bookstore visit

FARMINGTON – Gail Page of Brooksville, an artist and the author of a children’s book, “How to be a Good Dog,” will visit Devaney Doak and Garrett Booksellers at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday, May 3, at the store on Broadway as part of National Pet Week.

Chamber meal

JAY – The Jay-Livermore-Livermore Falls Chamber of Commerce will hold its Friday, May 5, breakfast at LaFleur’s Restaurant. A continental breakfast and member networking will begin at 7 a.m. The business meeting will start at 7:30.

The agenda will include discussion on Main Street – U.S.A., the Adopt-A-Spot and the chamber scholarship programs.

The Members in the Spotlight segment will feature Bruce Adams of Group Adams Propane Services. The speakers will be the two local candidates for Maine House Seat 81, Clark Souther (D) and Gary Knight (R). Rep. Rodney Jennings (D) of Leeds holds the seat.

Anyone wishing to attend should RSVP no later than Wednesday, May 3, at the Chamber Office, 897-3545.

Wheels’ needed

FARMINGTON – Wheels for the World volunteers will be in the Wal-Mart parking lot from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. July 22 to collect wheelchairs and other mobility aids, which will be restored and distributed to countries such as Ghana, India and Romania.
