La Survivance

LEWISTON — La Survivance Française will meet at 6 p.m. Tuesday, March 2, at the Multi-Purpose Center. Following the business meeting, members will play bingo. Thérèse Deschenes will serve as hostess.

Art and literature club

AUBURN — The Auburn-Lewiston Art and Literature Club will meet at 2 p.m. Monday, March 8, at the Women’s Literary Union Clubhouse, 19 Elm St.

James Parakilas, the James L. Moody Jr. professor of performing arts at Bates College, will perform several of Frederic Chopin’s compositions on the piano in honor of the composer’s 200th birthday. Hostesses for the event will be Marguerite Powers and Priscilla Hayes.

The performance is open to the public.

Queens guild meeting

LEWISTON — The Queens Guild Sodality, Prince of Peace Parish, will meet at 5.30 p.m. Thursday, March 4, at the Holy Cross senior hall.

A short program will be followed by light refreshments

Pomona grange

POLAND — Members of Androscoggin Pomona Grange will meet for a supper at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, March 3, at Excelsior Grange.

The meeting will begin at 7:30 p.m. and will include a program presented by the Family, Health and Hearing Committee. There will be a 50/50 raffle and an attendance drawing. All members and guests are welcome.

Trustee meeting

LITCHFIELD — The Smithfield Plantation Board of Trustees meeting will be held at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, March 3, at the Litchfield Town Office.

Cribbage play

LEWISTON — The Lewiston Senior Citizens Cribbage League winners at the Multi-Purpose Center on Feb. 25 were: first, Jeanne Collette and Joan Sampson; second, Cecile LeBlond and Clair Jean; third, Robert Cielinski and Roger Labbe; fourth, Betty Ames and Don Haley; fifth, Irene Beauchesne and Ed Madden.

The next game will be played at 9 a.m. Thursday, March 4.

Pianist performance

AUBURN — The Auburn Art Club will meet at 2 p.m. Monday, March 8, at the Auburn Methodist Church, Park Avenue.

Daniel Burgess of Minot, a vocalist, pianist and organist, will play a selection of classical melodies from the early 20th century. He is a graduate of Poland Regional High School and has taken courses at the University of Southern Maine. He is active in the choir at the Court Street Baptist Church, as well as in Community Little Theatre and the Poland Regional High School Arts Program.

The hostesses for the program are Donna Manson, chairwoman, Jean Hathorne, Fern Desjardin and Donna Sweetser.
