OES to meet

AUBURN — A special meeting of Pine Cone Chapter 326, Order of the Eastern Star, will be held at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, March 30, at the Masonic Hall, 1021 Turner St. The officers will do degrees. John E. Wardwell, worthy grand patron, will be in the east.

The meeting will be preceded by a supper at 6:15 p.m. All Eastern Star members are invited to welcome the new member.

Hospitality scholarship

FREEPORT — The Maine Innkeepers Education Foundation, affiliated with the Maine Innkeepers Association, is accepting applications for their 26th annual scholarship program. The scholarship was designed to offer partial support and encourage Maine students pursuing careers in culinary sciences or hospitality.

Applications must be received before Friday, April 9, and will be reviewed by a selection committee. Any Maine resident who has been accepted to a fully accredited school with specialties in hotel administration or culinary sciences and is pursuing a career in hospitality is encouraged to apply for a scholarship award ranging from $500 to $2000.

Dempsey program

LEWISTON — The Patrick Dempsey Center for Cancer Hope and Healing at Central Maine Medical Center will offer a free workshop for cancer patients, survivors and caregivers where participants will create a Life’s Journey book.

Sessions will take place from 4 to 6 p.m. Tuesdays, in April, at the Dempsey Center, 10 High St. Presented by Pat Poulin, RN, and Tookie Bright, MSW intern, the workshop will guide through the process of creating a Life’s Journey book, provide instruction, resources and focus on revisiting the positive experiences of life.

Parenting class

LEWISTON — Advocates for Children will offer “1-2-3 Magic” from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursdays, April 8 and 15, at the B Street Community Center, 57 Birch St., Suite 204

The program on child discipline will offer a humorous look at parenting with a serious look at discipline. Parents will learn how to handle misbehavior in public, how to avoid the “Talk-Persuade-Argue-Yell-Hit Syndrome” and discover how silence can speak louder than words.
