Gospel concert

JAY — The Campbells, the Maine-based family of gospel music, will present a concert at 6 p.m. Sunday, May 2, at Bean’s Corner Baptist Church, intersection of Routes 156 and 133.

In existence for more than 30 years, The Campbells perform extensively in the United States and Canada and have produced numerous recordings. They have also appeared on local and national television, as well as singing cruises. The concert is open to the public at no charge. For more information, call 645-2925.

Sound of wind power

PHILLIPS — The Sandy River Land Trust and the Phillips Planning Board will cosponsor an educational presentation with sound recordings by scientist and consultant Robert Rand, an environmental noise expert from Brunswick, at 6 p.m. Monday, May 3, at the Phillips Middle School gymnasium, Route 4.

Rand, a member of the Institute of Noise Control Engineers since 1993, will speak about the noise impact of industrial wind power development on people and communities. Rand has studied the noise effects of wind turbines on the communities of Freedom, Vinalhaven and Mars Hill in Maine.


The program is free and open to the public and light refreshments will be served. The presentation will be moderated by Mike Ellis.
