First Auburn Seniors

AUBURN — The First Auburn Seniors will meet on Wednesday, May 5, at Martindale, to celebrate the 47th year of membership. The doors will open at 11 a.m., and a buffet luncheon will be at noon. Following lunch, Dan Burgess will provide a musical program.

Attendance at the April 21 meeting was 62. Eleven members participated in the Wacky Hat Parade. The winner was Marge Stewart. Attendance winners were Norma Masse and Ralph Lashua; pot of gold, Evelyn Sawin, June McGinley and Annette Lee. New member Hope Telow was welcomed.

MINOT — The Androscoggin Pomona Grange will meet on Wednesday, May 5, at West Minot Grange for a 6:30 p.m. supper. The meeting will begin at 7:30, during which the fifth degree will be conferred. Any Pomona Granges with candidates are invited to bring them. A 50/50 raffle and attendance drawing will be held. All members and guests are welcome.

Food pantry

SABATTUS — The Community Free Baptist Church has recently opened a food pantry in the lower level of the church. The food pantry is open between 9 a.m. and noon on the first and third Wednesday of each month. For those needing assistance on the weekend, the pantry will be open on the Saturday between the Wednesday openings.

Volunteers at the food pantry are also able to provide assistance with transportation of food, if needed.

Service day

TURNER — Turner Grange 23 will hold a Community Service Day from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, May 8, on Route 117, Turner Center Road. The snowmobile club will have a chicken barbecue and the Grange will sell hot dogs.

The American Legion Auxiliary will have a bake sale and the Turner Library and Turner Center Universalist Church will have yard sales. For more information, call Mary at 225-3945.

Reiki, golf

TURNER — SAD 52 Adult and Community Education will present a Reiki level two class on Tuesday, May 11. The second degree of Reiki consists of additional symbols and the training of inabsentia healing. Participants will receive their second attunement and certificate of achievement. Reiki level one is a prerequisite to learning level two.

A beginner golf clinic will also start on Tuesday, May 11 and an intermediate clinic will begin on Thursday, May 13. Both classes are for six weeks and cover the short game, long game and golf rules. To sign up, go to www.msad52.maineadulted.org.

Clean energy discussion

LEWISTON — Repower Maine will host a discussion on “Clean Energy Jobs For America” at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, May 4, at Bates College, Pettengill Hall, Room G52. 

There will be free pizza and refreshments.
