FARMINGTON — The Franklin Savings Bank Save the Music fundraising effort is underway and anyone interested in having their donation effectively doubled by matching funds should send their check to: Maine Regional School District 9 Music Program, in care of Kris Pottle, 115 Learning Lane, Farmington ME 04938.
The bank has committed to donate up to $10,000 in matching funds from its FSB Community Development Foundation to help restore many of the features originally proposed to be cut from the budget. The donation takes the form of a challenge grant.
Mother, son dance
JAY — A Mother and Son Dance will be held from 6 to 9 p.m. Saturday, May 8, during the Jay Community Dinner. The American Legion in Livermore Falls is sponsoring the event. Admission is $10 each family.
Griffin Couture of Jay will be the disc jockey and there will be pictures taken by Ken Landry.
FARMINGTON — The Sandy River Valley Chapter, Maine Genealogical Society, will meet at 10 a.m. Saturday, May 8, at the Farmington Public Library.
There will be a presentation and explanation of the information that can be found on the Agricultural Census taken for the years 1850, 1860, 1870 and 1880. Anyone with an interest in genealogy is welcome to attend.
CHESTERVILLE — The North Chesterville Extension Homemakers will meet at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, May 11, in the Chesterville Town Office. The topic of the meeting will be to choose a craft for the Chester Greenwood Festival of Trees and planning the June outing. The public is invited to attend.

FARMINGTON — Old South First Congregational Church in Farmington will serve its monthly free community luncheon from noon to 1 p.m. Saturday, May 8. The menu will include American chop suey, cole slaw, rolls and pudding.
Delivery service will be available in the Farmington area. Call the church office at 778-0424 during the week or the church kitchen at 778-4438 on the morning of the luncheon for delivery.
