SeniorsPlus to visit towns
GREENWOOD — SeniorsPlus, the Area Agency on Aging, will be at the Greenwood Town Office on Jan. 9 from 9 a.m. to noon, Norway Town Hall on Jan. 16 from 1 to 4 p.m. and the Rumford Town Office on Jan. 23 from 9 a.m. to noon. Representatives will be available to answer questions or concerns.

Cookie sale begins Jan. 11
STATEWIDE — Girl Scouts of Maine announces that the 2013 Girl Scout Cookie Sale officially begins on Friday, Jan. 11. Girl Scouts statewide are set to take orders through Jan. 27 and cookie deliveries are scheduled for the week of March 2-8.
Girl Scout Cookies sell for $4 a box and flavors include Thin Mints, Caramel deLites, Peanut Butter Patties, Lemonades, Peanut Butter Sandwiches, Shortbread and Thanks-A-Lots. This year, consumers have the opportunity to enjoy a new tropical-inspired cookie infused with major vitamins. Mango Cremes with NutriFusion are crunchy vanilla and coconut cookies filled with a tangy mango-flavored creme that are touted as both “delicious and nutritious.”
Lemonades and Thanks-A-Lots now have Eco-friendly packaging that will eliminate more than 300 tons of paperboard from America’s waste stream.
Cookie Share for the Military is part of the cookie sale again this year and provides the public with the chance to buy cookies and donate them to the men and women veterans who will visit Maine Veterans hospitals and clinics statewide.

Voice of the Valley on Jan. 19
RUMFORD — Calling all singers. The American Cancer Society Cancer Action Network has booked Saturday, Jan. 19, for the Voice of the Valley Competition. This is a singing competition open to youth, teen and adult. A new category has been added for 2013. Duets are now welcome to compete.
Contestants in each category compete for a $100 prize and a trophy. Second place earns $50. Winners in the four categories then face off for the Voice of the Valley trophy and an additional $100 prize.
Auditions will be held at 11 a.m. The entry fee is $10 per contestant for each category.
