Historical Society meets

RUMFORD — The Rumford Historical Society will hold its monthly meeting at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 16, in the Rumford Auditorium at the Municipal Building.

The program for the evening will be a presentation by David Gawtry, curator of the Lufkin Museum, on the dairies which once processed milk for the families of the Rumford/Mexico area. Gawtry has an impressive collection of various dairy bottles, which he will bring for display.

The program will be preceded by a brief business meeting of the members, and light refreshments will be served following the program.

The event is open to the public, and all are asked to enter and exit via the River Street entrance, near the Police Department.

Stephens High Class of 1948


MEXICO — The Stephens High School Class of 1948 will meet at 11:30 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 17, at Dick’s Restaurant.

Snowshoe Club spaghetti, dance

RUMFORD — A spaghetti and meatball supper and dance will be held Friday, Jan. 18, at the Snowshoe Club, 227 Waldo St.

The meal will be served from 5 to 6 p.m. The cost is $7 for adults and $4 for children under 12.

The dance will be from 7 to 11 p.m. Music is provided by the Noel and Don Band.

A Chinese auction will take place to benefit the club athletes.

Stephens High Class of 1961

MEXICO — The Stephens High School Class of 1961 will meet at 11:30 a.m. Friday, Jan. 18, at the Chicken Coop. For more information, call Louise at 364-3743.

Think Snow Dance at Eagles

RUMFORD — The annual Think Snow Dance will be held Saturday, Jan. 19, at the Rumford Eagles Club.

The Hooligans will provide the music. The cost is $10. There will be a 50/50, raffle table and a door prize. Tickets can be purchased from the local clubs in Dixfield, Mexico, Peru or Rumford.
