Youth ice fishing derby is Friday

MONMOUTH — The fifth annual youth ice fishing derby on Cochnewagon Pond will be held from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Friday, Feb. 21.

This will be the largest kids-only (age 4 to 12) ice fishing derby in the state this year. At least 300 kids are expected with all their parents, for 600-plus people on the lake for the day. Everything is free for the kids: free food, free bait, free registration and more.

A drawing will be held for a complete ice fishing package as well as a lifetime fishing license for a couple lucky registrants.

Maine Inland Fisheries stocks more than 300 good-sized brook trout for the day so the kids have plenty of fish to catch. The event is designed as an introduction to ice fishing and intended to make the children lifetime fishermen/women.

Program on hydrotherapy benefits

LEWISTON — A program on the benefits of hydrotherapy will be held at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 25, at The Ark, 791 Lisbon St.

Speakers will be Dennis Farley, respiratory therapist, and Matthew Farley, physical fitness trainer.

AUBURN — A Cabin Fever Reliever, featuring the Supreme Court Jesters, juggling and illusions with a Gospel message, will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, Feb. 28, at Turner Street Community Church, 263 Turner St. The event is free and everyone is welcome.

Dr. Seuss birthday party

AUBURN — A Happy Birthday Dr. Seuss party will be held from 1 to 3 p.m. Saturday, March 1, in the Androscoggin Community Room at Auburn Public Library, 49 Spring St.

There will be carnival-style games, crafts and a birthday cake. No registration is required for this free event. All are welcome.

Three-entree community supper

MECHANIC FALLS — The Mechanic Falls Historical Society will hold a three-entree community supper from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. Saturday, March 1, downstairs at the Congregational Hall at the Mechanic Falls Historical Society, 64 Elm St.

Originally promoted as the Almost Famous Roast Beef supper, turkey and ham has also been included in the menu. Diners will be able to choose to have a single entree or indulge with a slice from each. Homemade mashed potatoes, vegetables, cole slaw and desserts will also be included.

The society will also make the meal available as a to-go item. The society will have appropriate containers available for this feature. Diners are asked to bring their own bags to carry out multiple meals.

Book sale, boutique, breakfast at library

WAYNE — A book sale, boutique and breakfast will take place from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday, March 1, at the Williams House, 14 Old Winthrop Road.

First Saturdays at the Williams House offer coffee or tea and quiche or a scone, and as well as the ongoing book sale and boutique. Wi-fi is available for laptops. All proceeds benefit the Cary Memorial Library.

Lewiston Bridge Club winners

LEWISTON — The Lewiston Bridge Club winners at the Lewiston Armory on Feb. 18 were as follows: first, Claire Lyons and Priscilla Rooth; second, Larry Fortier and Roger Labbe; third, Jan and Vern Arey; fourth, Jeanine Kivus and Luke Merry; first in B, Claire Lyons and Priscilla Rooth; second, Larry Fortier and Roger Labbe.
