Legion holds karaoke; collecting toys

AUBURN — William J. Rogers American Legion Post 153 will hold karaoke with Jean Louis from 7 to 11 p.m. Friday, Dec. 5, and Saturday, Dec. 6, at the post at 71 South Main St.

The post is seeking donations of toys for children to be distributed at the annual Christmas party for veterans and children to be held on Dec. 21. Age-appropriate gifts can be dropped off at the post afternoons until Dec. 20.

Breastfeeding support group meets

AUBURN — The La Leche League offers breastfeeding information and encouragement to pregnant women, new mothers and growing families. Services offered include monthly meetings and 24-hour telephone help. All interested women are invited to attend the next meeting to be held at 9:30 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 11, at 102 Bennett Ave. Babies are always welcome.

Pregnancy is an ideal time to begin attending meetings in preparation for baby’s arrival and mothers find continued support throughout their breastfeeding experience. All concerns about breastfeeding are welcome for discussion in addition to the scheduled topic, “Breastfeeding, the Mother-Baby Relationship, and the Weaning Process.”

Blood drive planned for Dec. 11

WINTHROP — A community blood drive will be held from 1 to 6 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 11, at St. Francis Xavier Parish Hall.

All qualifying donors are welcome. A form of identification is required.

Vegan cooking class for the holidays

LEWISTON — A vegan cooking class, “Healthy Holiday Entertaining,” will be held at 6 p.m. Monday, Dec. 15, at The Ark & Luncheon Cafe, 791 Lisbon St.

Cheryl Farley, nutritionist, will demonstrate some of her favorite holiday delights. As always, there will be free samples to taste. There is no fee and registration is not required.
