Legion Christmas party is Dec. 13

RUMFORD — American Legion Auxiliary Unit 24 will have its Christmas party on Saturday, Dec. 13, at the post, 184 Congress St.

Social hour starts at 5 p.m. with dinner and music to follow.

A pork loin supper will be served. Music will be provided by Eric Shooter Lane Schmersal. Cost is $12 for appetizer and dessert.

All Legion, Sons of American Legion and Auxiliary members are welcome to attend.

Rumford Area Quilters to meet Dec. 11

RUMFORD — RAQ (Rumford Area Quilters) will meet at noon Thursday, Dec. 11, at the Rumford United Methodist Church, Linnell Street. All area quilters invited. Note the change in meeting time.

Members are asked to bring non-dessert type snacks to share. Baby shower items will be accepted for Newborns In Need and a representative from that organization will be present with an update on that project. Show and tell is welcome.

Lunch, performance by Chamber Singers

FARMINGTON — A free community luncheon and performance by the Mt. Blue Chamber Singers accompanied by Patricia Hayden will take place at noon Saturday, Dec. 13, at Old South First Congregational Church, 227 Main St.

The menu consists of meatloaf, mashed potatoes with gravy, green beans, rolls and cake.

Public bean, casserole supper

FARMINGTON — A public supper of baked beans and casseroles will be held at Trinity United Methodist Church from 4:30 to 6 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 13.

Winter Festival is Dec. 13 in Turner

TURNER — The 11th annual Winter Festival will be held at the Leavitt Institute Building from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 13.

Activities will include visits with Mr. and Mrs. Claus, crafts for the children, silent auction, bake sale, raffle, shopping and lunch. Sponsors are The Turner Public Library and the Turner Historical Museum.

Public breakfast with Santa in Paris

PARIS — A public breakfast with Santa will take place from 8 to 10 a.m. Sunday, Dec. 14, at VFW Post 9787, 58 East Main St.

Kids will get gifts and a picture with Santa.

Cost is $7 for adults and free for ages under 10.

The event is hosted by Amvets Post 777.

SeniorsPlus to visit Norway, Fryeburg

NORWAY/FRYEBURG — SeniorsPlus, the Area Agency on Aging, will be at the Norway Town Hall from 1 to 4 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 17, and at the Fryeburg Public Library from 1 to 4 p.m. Monday, Dec. 22.

Representatives will be on hand to answer any questions or concerns.
