Rumford Seniors list events

PERU — The Rumford Senior Citizens have announced upcoming events. They meet at the old Peru school on Main Street.

Nickel bingo runs Tuesdays and Thursdays. Games start at 12:30 p.m. Non-members are welcome.

They are taking sign-ups for a Fryeburg Fair trip scheduled for Oct. 6. Cost of the trip will be $10.00 for members and $15.00 for non-members.

Sign-ups are also be held for tables for the Christmas fair held at the old Peru school Dec. 5. Small tables are $15, and large tables $25.

Rumford Sr Citizens Membership meetings held the fourth Thursday of the month at 10 a.m. and are followed by pot luck lunch.

AARP to meet

SOUTH PARIS — The Oxford Hills Chapter of AARP will meet at noon Monday, Aug. 10, at the First Congregational Church on East Main Street. A cold lunch of ham and vegetable plate will be served.
The business meeting will begin at 12:45 p.m.

Bridge club announces results

OXFORD — Oxford Hills Duplicate Bridge Club met at 9:15 a.m. Friday, July 24, at the Oxford Rec Center on King Street. A 13-and-a-half table Mitchell movement was enjoyed.

Finishing first flight A N/S were Mike Newsom of South Paris and Misha Tomic of Waterford; second were Hazel Glazier of Norway and Marta Clement of Woodstock; third were Mike Quinn of Otisfield and Mike True of Auburn; fourth were Norma and Rick Verrill of Gorham, also first in flight B. Second in B were Cynthia Clifford and Claire Lyons of Lewiston; third were Eleanor and Lindy Wigton of Lewiston, also first in flight C; fourth were Connie and Ron Reynolds of Auburn. Finishing second in flight C were Linda Smith and Jack Neal of Oxford; third were Laura Chandler of Winthrop and Marjie Levesque of Waterford; fourth were Karla Adasse of Bridgton and David Kallander of Raymond.

Mexico library to host Earth Jams!

MEXICO — The Mexico Public Library will host the interactive musical program “Earth Jams!” with Matt Loosigian at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 11, as part of its “Terrific Tuesdays” summer program for kids ages 2 to 14.

The performance will weave peace and compassion with humor and silliness. The program will be held at Calvin Lyons Hall.

Locke Mills to host supper, dance

LOCKE MILLS — Locke Mills Region Hall will host a supper and dance from 5 to 9:30 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 11. Doors will open at 4 p.m.

Roast pork, stuffing, mashed potatoes, vegetables, applesauce and pies will be served. Music will be provided by the Shadagee Ramblers.

The cost for this event is $10 for the dance and supper, or $7 for the supper, or $5 just for the dance. The price for children is $3.

‘Growing Local’ showing in Waterford

WATERFORD — The Waterford Library and Farmers’ Market will sponsor a showing of “Growing Local” at 6 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 11, at the library, 663 Waterford Road, Routes 35 and 27.

The movie showing will also include a pot luck supper and and Jeanine Loubier will play the fiddle for entertainment.
