Calvary United Methodist to host worship series
LEWISTON — The Rev. Annie Baker-Streevy will continue her August worship series on “Jesus as the bread of life” at Calvary United Methodist Church, 59 Sabattus St.
Everyone is invited to be part of exploring this ongoing topic and to celebrate God’s love of all people. Services at Calvary begin at 10:30 a.m.
The service is preceded by a weekly open Bible study at 9 a.m. There is child care during the service for young children.
Mitch Thomas directs the Praise Team choir.
Baker-Streevy’s sermons are available via podcast, and the church has a Facebook page with regular updates and current news of congregational events.

MEXICO — Mexico First Baptist Church will host Vacation Bible School from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. from Monday to Friday, Aug. 10 to 14.
Participants may hike to Mt. Killamanjaro as they trek through the book of proverbs on an exciting journey exploring the wonders of the mountain and of God.
There will be games, crafts, singing and snacks — including a cotton candy night. This all adds up to one sweet adventure.
Summer Breakfast Aug. 12
WATERFORD — The last in a series of four Waterford Summer Breakfasts will be held from 7:30 a.m. to 10 a.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 12, at the Wilkins Community House, next to the Congregational Church on Plummer Hill Road.
The full breakfast menu includes scrambled eggs, pancakes with real Maine maple syrup, bacon, sausage, donuts, freshly baked muffins (gluten free available), orange juice, coffee and tea. Cost is $8 for adults, $4 for child-sized portions; children under 5 years old are free. This year’s Maine Maple Syrup is supplied by Thunder Hill Farm in Waterford. Melby’s Market and Eatery of North Waterford once again supplies the eggs, bacon and sausages.
The Wilkins House Basement Yard Sale will be held from 7:30 a.m. to 11 a.m. on Aug. 12. Proceeds from the sale go to the Building Improvement Funds of the Wilkins House and the Waterford Congregational Church.
Minot church offering coffee, treats
MINOT — The Minot United Methodist Church, located at the corner of Route 121 and Empire Road in Minot, will be offering free coffee and treats at 11 a.m. on Sunday, Aug. 16.
Baked goods will also be available. The event is open to the public and everyone is invited.
