Vintage clothing discussed at meeting

MINOT — The Minot Historical Meeting will be 7 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 11, at the Minot Town Office.

Auction planned at Bald Mountain Camps

RANGELEY — The Rangeley Lakes Region Historical Society will host a dinner and a live and silent benefit auction Thursday, Aug. 13from 4:30 to 8 p.m. at Bald Mountain Camps.

The live auction will feature sporting antiques, Rangeley memorabilia, guided trips, original art by John Swan, David Tibbetts, Ashley Gray and David Footer, a Rangeley boat, vintage quilts, tarpon fishing in the Keys, an antique Rangeley Indian painting, an authentic Carrie Stevens fly and more.

Proceeds from the dinner and live and silent auctions will benefit the preservation efforts of the Historical Society and its two museums. Tickets are $50 per person and include a Bald Mountain dinner, beverage and bidding number. They are available at the Rangeley Chamber of Commerce, Historical Society and the Outdoor Sporting Heritage Museum. Reservations may be made by phone.

Historical Society to meet

WATERFORD — The Waterford Historical Society will meet at 7 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 13, at the North Waterford Congregational Church.

This is a change to the originally planned location.

The meeting will feature a program on North Waterford, “Before and After the Fire of 1900.”

Pictures of the village in the late 19th and early 20th century will be on display, and there will be historical recollections of the founding of Waterford Grange No. 479 as well as Bear Mountain Grange No. 62 in South Waterford.

Participants should bring potluck refreshments.

FARMINGTON — “Managing Conflicts,” a workshop presented by Marilynne Mann of Husson University, will be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 13, at University of Maine Farmington, North Dining Hall.

In this workshop, you’ll discover your own emotional triggers and learn how to manage difficult encounters with diplomacy, tact and credibility.
