Mt. Blue Area Garden Club to meet
WILTON — Mt Blue Area Garden Club members and guests will meet at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 18, at Tom Saviello’s garden, located at 60 Applegate Lane in Wilton.
His home is located in the middle of the old Keene Morrison apple orchard, which acts as a backdrop for his gardens and blueberry bushes, strawberry patch. raspberry plants, cherry, peach and apricot trees. The apples and flowers are all past winners at the Fair.
The meeting will begin with a tour of the gardens.
Hostesses Laurie Patten, Judy Loeven and Barbara Bennett will provide desserts. Participants should bring a lawn chair and bag lunch. Open to the public.
Stephens High ’54 to meet
MEXICO — The Stephens High School class of 1954 will meet at 11:30 a.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 19, at Dick’s Restaurant, 23 Bridge St., Mexico.

WINTHROP — Stephens High School Class of 1958 will hold its monthly luncheon at Fast Eddies restaurant at noon Wednesday, Aug. 19.

SeniorsPlus to visit Norway, Fryeburg
NORWAY — SeniorsPlus will be at the Norway Town Office from 1 to 4 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 19, and at the Fryeburg Town Office from 1 to 4 p.m. Monday, Aug. 24.
They will be answering any questions or concerns about services and resources for older adults and adults with disabilities and their families.

Cook out set for Aug. 19
OTISFIELD — The Otisfield Social Outreach Committee is planning its fourth Annual Community Cook-Out Wednesday, Aug. 19, at the Community Hall on Route 121.
Seatings will be at 5 and 6 p.m.
Admission is free, but donations will be accepted.
The menu will include barbecued chicken, hamburgers, hot dogs, salads, watermelon, rhubarb punch, iced tea.

RUMFORD — Stephens High School Class of 1945 will meet at 11:30 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 20, at Brian’s Bistro on Hartford Street.
Cast iron topic of talk
BRIDGTON — The Bridgton Historical Society Museum will host Sam Smith, master blacksmith, founder of the Portland Forge, and president of the Maine Blacksmith’s Association, from 3 to 5 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 20, at Narramissic farm in South Bridgton.
Smith will speak about cast iron — that all-purpose cookware that has been rediscovered by many young cooks who prize it for its even heat distribution and superior versatility. After the talk, Smith will be available to consult with owners of cast iron who would like to know more about a piece of cookware. Those people wishing to bring a piece in for consultation should limit themselves to one piece.
There is a $5 charge per person for the afternoon’s events. There will also be a skillet-throwing area set up.
