Cooking class for children

LEWISTON — The Ark and Olive Branch Cafe, 791 Lisbon St., Lewiston, will hold a cooking class, Kid 2 Kids — Cooking Healthy in the Kitchen, at 5:30 p.m. on Monday, Aug. 17.

This free class is presented by Sienna Mazone and friends and features lunches on the go/healthy alternatives to fast food. It is a hands-on cooking class designed for children ages 8 to 12, but all ages are welcome.

Pickwick Club to meet

AUBURN — The Pickwick Club, Maine’s Charles Dickens reading and discussion group, will meet from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday, Aug. 22at the Auburn Public Library, the group’s sponsor.

The novel to be discussed is “The Mystery of Edwin Drood,” and Joan Moes will moderate.

Chicken barbecue Aug. 22

GRAY — Gray Congregational Church will hold its 24th annual chicken barbecue at 5 and 5:45 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 22, at 5 Brown St.

Menu includes a half chicken, baked potato, corn on the cob, homemade biscuits, cakes, pies, punch and coffee.

Cost is $10 for adults and $5 for children under 12.

Takeout will be available.

The church is handicapped accessible.

Final Saturday Night Supper set

CASCO — The Casco Village Church United Church of Christ will hold its last Saturday Night Supper of the summer from 5 to 6 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 22, at 941 Meadow Road, Route 121, in Casco Village

The barbecue will feature a chick barbecue, potato salad, coleslaw, corn on the cob, rolls, beverages and dessert.

Cost is $9 for adults and $6 children 8 and younger. Families with young children eat for a maximum of $25.
