Bridge club announces winners
LEWISTON — The Lewiston Bridge Club winners at the Lewiston Armory on Aug. 10 were, first, Leslie Lord and Les Buzzell; second and first in B and C Cindy and Bob Kirchherr; third and second in B, Roger Labbe and Paul Sherman; fourth, Pat and Mike Quinn; and fifth, third in B, Marta Clements and Janice Wolfe.
Winners on Aug. 11 were, N/S first, Jan and Vern Arey; second and first in B, Marta Clements and Hazel Glazier; third and second in B/first in C, Cindy and Bob Kirchherr; E/W, first, Paul Sherman and Mike True; second and first in B, Claire Lyons and Rick Verrill; third, Les Buzzell and Misha Tomic; and first in C, Kathy Burden and Sue Kaluzynski.
Games are played at 9 a.m. Mondays and Tuesdays in the Seniors’ Room at the Lewiston Armory, 65 Central Ave. A partner is always guaranteed and all bridge players are welcome.
Mobile library to visit Festival Plaza
AUBURN — The Auburn Public Library’s Mobile Library will join Thursdays at Festival Plaza beginning Thursday, Aug. 20.
The Mobile Library will meet new people and to deliver services in a fun and convenient manner. Library staff will offer library card registration, free for Auburn, Lewiston and Minot residents, book checkouts, demonstrations of the library’s digital resources, as well as offering assistance with reference questions. They will also hold a mini book sale.
Grange holding clothing sale
GREENE — The Androscoggin Grange No. 8 will hold a clothing sale from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 22, at 99 Main St.
Baby, kids, ladies and men’s clothing and accessories will be for sale, and shoppers may fill a bag for $1.

Grange to host chicken barbecue
DANVILLE — Danville Junction Grange, located at Old Danville Road and Grange Street, will hold its annual chicken barbecue from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 23.
The menu will consist of barbecue chicken, potato salad, pasta salad, sliced cucumbers and tomatoes, rolls and a beverage. Dessert will be strawberries on pound cake.
The cost for this event is $8 for adults and $4 for children. Take out will be available.
Shorthand Writers to meet
TOPSHAM — The Shorthand Writers of Maine will meet from 12:30 to 2:30 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 27, at the Fairground Cafe.
Theory review will consist of writing blends, brief forms and phrases, word endings and homonyms. There will be a shorthand puzzle, a theory quiz and some dictation.
Interested shorthand writers are invited to attend. Carpools are being arranged.
