School district holding food drive
FARMINGTON — On Thursday morning, Aug. 27, the Mt. Blue Regional School District Education Association will hold a food drive with the support of Michael Motors and the extended faculty and staff of western Maine’s RSU 9.
Faculty and staff, administrators and visitors are encouraged to bring non-perishables and fill a vehicle provided by Michael Motors of Farmington.
Donations will then be delivered to area food pantries, starting with Mallett School, and a newly established space for Mt. Blue campus students. Remaining donations will be distributed to community pantries.

Learn to build a root cellar
SKOWHEGAN — University of Maine Cooperative Extension will offer a free introductory workshop on designing, constructing and maintaining root cellars for winter food storage from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 3, at the UMaine Extension Somerset County office, 7 County Drive.

Play museum announces movie night
WILTON — Western Maine Play Museum has announced it will hold a family movie night at 7:15 p.m. Friday, Sept. 4.
The will be “Finding Nemo.” The evening will feature refreshments and glow-in-the-dark jewelry.
Families are advised to bring lawn chairs or blankets. Bathroom facilities will be available. Children must be accompanied by an adult.
The cost for tickets is $4 for a single person, or $10 for a family. The rain date is Sunday, Sept. 5.
