Make Your Own Healthy Salsa class

NORWAY — Stephens Memorial Hospital and the MaineHealth Learning Resource Center will offer Make Your Own Healthy Salsa from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 1, at the Harper Conference Center in the Ripley Medical Office Building.

Salsa can help meet the goal of working more fruits and vegetables into a healthy diet. Join Sarah Carter, SNAP nutrition educator and program coordinator for Healthy Oxford Hills, and Diane Ward, master food preserver volunteer for the University of Maine Cooperative Extension, as they show how to make salsa recipes using fruits and vegetables. Participants will be able to sample the recipes.

SMH offering Yoga for All Levels

NORWAY — Stephens Memorial Hospital and the MaineHealth Learning Resource Center will offer Yoga for All Levels from 6 to 7:15 p.m. Thursdays, Sept. 3 to 24, at the Harper Conference Center in the Ripley Medical Office Building.

Many people think that yoga is just stretching. But yoga is really about creating balance in the body through developing both strength and flexibility. Yoga is a physical discipline that focuses on developing control of the mind and body through postures and breathing.

Join Kelly Bruneau, certified yoga instructor, for the four-week series that will strengthen, stretch and energize. Modification of postures will be given when needed, making the class suitable for all levels. Bring a yoga mat, water and towel and wear comfortable clothing.

FD Auxiliary sponsoring 5K

CARRABASSETT VALLEY — The Carrabassett Valley Fire Department Auxiliary third annual 5K will take place on Saturday, Sept. 26, with registration at 8:30 a.m.
