Norway Downtown Easter Festival

NORWAY — Kids can hop to the excitement from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, April 15, on Main Street for the 13th annual Norway Downtown Easter Festival.

The journey will at the Norway Memorial Library where children can meet the Easter Bunny, nibble on some healthy snacks and pick up a Bunny Trail Map. Along the Bunny Trail, participating businesses will hatch surprises. There will also be the Main Street Egg Hunt, crafts, raffles and more. 

The Norway Downtown Easter Festival is open to everyone. There are no fees to join in for this spring celebration. This event is a collaborative effort of the Norway Downtown Promotions Committee, Norway Recreation Department, Norway Memorial Library and Main Street businesses.

Vacation week STEAM programs

NORWAY — Norway Memorial Library Children’s Librarian, Annika Black, will offer kids a three day “S.T.E.A.M.ed Up for Science” program from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. during school vacation week Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, April 18, 19 and 20.

Science, technology, engineering, art and math are part of each day’s project. Children will make robotic hands, mini rockets, and origami paper pots for planting seeds.

Library moves to spring hours

CARRABASSETT VALLEY — Carrabassett Valley Public Library will operate during its spring hours beginning Tuesday, April 18.

The library will be open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesdays through Fridays and from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday.

Grange to celebrate 143 years

JAY — North Jay Grange No. 10 will celebrate 143 years of service on Tuesday, April 18. 

Supper will be served at 6 p.m., and the program will follow upstairs at 7 p.m. where members will be awarded and those attending can meet officers of the Jay Police Department. 

The public is invited to attend.

Western Foothills Homebrewers meeting

NORWAY — A meeting of the Western Foothills Homebrewers will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, April 20, at the headquarters of the Center for an Ecologically Based Economy, 447 Main St.

The meeting is free to the public, and all homebrewers are invited to attend and encouraged to bring ideas, brewing tips and recipes.

Wilton Society to meet

WILTON — The Wilton Farm and Home Museum (Wilton Historical Society) will hold its first meeting of the season at 7 p.m. Thursday, April 20. 

Pizza, movie night at United Parish

HARRISON — The United Parish Church will host a community meal and movie Friday, April 21.

Pizza will be served at 5 p.m., and the Disney movie “Pete’s Dragon” will be shown at 6:15 p.m., which is rated PG and runs less than two hours.

The event is open to residents of Harrison, North Bridgton and Waterford. The event is free, and there is no religious observance.

Harrison Earth Day cleanup

HARRISON — The third annual Harrison Earth Day Community Cleanup will be from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Saturday, April 22. Volunteers will convene at the Harrison fire station, where they will split into small groups and head into the town.

Trash bags will be provided. Volunteers should bring work gloves and water.

The first 75 people to sign up will receive a free T-shirt.

After the cleanup, there will be a barbecue lunch for the volunteers.

Finnish-American Heritage Society meeting

WEST PARIS — The Finnish-American Heritage Society of Maine will hold its annual membership meeting at 1 p.m. Sunday, April 23, at 8 Maple St.

The election of officers, a presentation of events planned to celebrate the 100th anniversary of Finland’s independence, and an important discussion and vote regarding the future of the building are on the agenda. The business meeting will be followed by a potluck meal.

Landowner appreciation dinner April 22

INDUSTRY — Northern Lites Snowmobile Club will thank landowners for the club’s snowmobile use of their trails by serving a free dinner Saturday, April 22, at the Industry Town Office.

The social time with appetizers will begin at 5:30 p.m., and the meal will be served at 6 p.m.
