OES chapters donate to ESTARL

WALES — Lakeside Chapter No. 60, Order of the Eastern Star, will hold its stated meeting at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 14, at the Grange-Masonic Hall, 322 Centre Road.

Members will honor “side liners” after an ESTARL Supper at 6 p.m. supplied by Lakeside, Pioneer and Pine Cone chapters. The donation is $3 per member, and the funds will be divided among the three chapters for their ESTARL Scholarship Contribution to the Grand Chapter’s Fund.

ESTARL is the Eastern Star Training and Religious Leadership. The money collected though the year is awarded to applying individual students of all religious training in their second year, if the scholarship qualifications are met.

At the June Through the Eyes of a Child Grand Family held in Auburn in cooperation with Pine Cone Chapter, $153 dollars was donated to the Eastern Star Training And Religious Leadership Scholarship Fund.

ALIA annual meeting planned

WINTHROP — The annual meeting of the Annabessacook Lake Improvement Association will be held on Saturday, Aug. 18, at the Augusta West Kampground.

There will be a pancake breakfast at 8:30 a.m. followed by a business meeting at 9:15 a.m. 

Bog Hoot Quilt Society meeting 

MECHANIC FALLS — Area residents who enjoy crafts and companionship are invited to join community and church members at the Anglican Church of the Transfiguration (formerly the Mechanic Falls Congregational Church) on Elm Street for the Bog Hoot Quilt Society meeting.

The group meeting is at 10 a.m. Tuesdays. The entrance to the downstairs is from the driveway to the church.

There are plenty of tables for quilting projects, an ironing board and a cutting board, and the coffee pot is on. Participants are invited to bring any project they are working on, including knitting, crocheting and needle crafts, or they may join in on church projects.
