Ukulele Group to entertain Society
WEST PARIS — The West Paris Historical Society will meet at 6 p.m. Monday, Sept. 18, for a potluck supper followed by a meeting at 6:30 p.m. and entertainment at 7:30 p.m.
The Oxford Hills Ukulele Group will entertain.
Fiddle Jam to get toes tappin’
GREENWOOD — The Greenwood Fiddle Jam will be from 6 to 9 p.m. Friday, Sept. 22, at the old Greenwood Town Hall on Route 26.
A slow jam will be held during the first hour. The focus on traditional, Scott’s, Irish Quebecois and contra dance tunes. Other acoustic instruments are welcome.
Himalayan goat herder talk
BETHEL — Wendy Youmans and Ray Geiger of Bethel will present a visual and oral travelogue of their time with semi nomadic cashmere goat herders in the Indian Himalayas in June 2017.
The Bethel couple were part of a group of eight people who donated four workdays at a women’s cashmere craft center 15,000 feet above sea level.
West Parish Congregational Church will host the potluck supper at 6 p.m. Friday, Sept. 22. Those attending should bring a dish to share, preferably an Indian dish. The talk will begin about 6:45 p.m.
Memorial tennis tournament planned
WILTON — The annual Gail Saviello Memorial Tennis Tournament Scrambles will begin at 9 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 23, at the Academy Hill courts.
All players are welcome. Proceeds will benefit upkeep of the Academy Hill courts and the Wilton Public Library.
Cost to play is $15 for adults and $5 students 18 and younger.
Lunch and snacks provided by Tyngtown Club.
Annual River Run on Sept. 23
RUMFORD — The annual River Run is set for Saturday, Sept. 23, on the Androscoggin River.
Organizer Jim Rinaldo said the 12-mile full trek begins at 10 a.m. in Hanover. There will also be a shorter four-mile trek that will begin at Hastings Landing in Rumford Center.
Following the event, refreshments will be served at the Rumford Boat Landing followed by bocce ball.
Registration is required. The event will be rain or shine.
A limited use of canoes, kayaks and vests will be available, so early registration is recommended.

Moose Creek Cloggers offering classes
WILTON — A basic clogging class will begin on Monday, Sept. 25, running for eight weeks from 6 to 7 p.m. at the Cushing School art/music room. Cost is $50.
Clogging is a type of folk dance in which the dancer’s footwear is used as a percussive by striking the heel, the toe, or both against a floor or each other to create audible rhythms, usually to the downbeat with the heel keeping the rhythm. It is the official state dance of North Carolina and Kentucky.
Clog dance shoes have taps on the toe and heel so that they make a rhythmic sound when dancing. Clog can be done without a partner.
