Bruins, Healey sink Pirates in overtime


PORTLAND (AP) – Eric Healey scored 8:58 into overtime, lifting the Providence Bruins past the Portland Pirates 5-4 and narrowing their deficit to 3-2 in their best-of-seven Atlantic Division playoffs in the American Hockey League.

Healey collected two goals while Pascal Pelletier scored once and added an assist. Zenon Konopka and Shane O’Brien each had a goal and an assist for Portland.

The Bruins (2-3-0-0) led 2-1 at the first intermission. After Aaron Rome netted one for Portland (3-2-0-0), Tyler Redenbach and Pelletier connected for the Bruins. The Pirates tied it in the middle frame. Jason MacDonald and Healey scored for Providence, while Konopka, O’Brien and Kent Huskins tallied for the Pirates.

After a scoreless third period, Healey drilled the game winner from the right circle on the power play.
