BUCKFIELD — Forty seniors, 20 males and 20 females, will graduate from Buckfield Junior-Senior High School at 6 p.m. Saturday, June 4.
The event at the school leads off with a slide show of the students as they have grown up through the years. A little later, each student will present roses to their parents.
For Principal George Reuter, all graduating classes are special, but the Class of 2011 may be even more special because it is the first high school class to have graduated with all four years with Reuter as principal. He began his position when this year’s seniors were entering freshmen.
Several students will provide musical performances, and several other students will give class speeches.
After the ceremony, the class will be taken to a “secret” destination in Windham for a night of activities.
Many from the class will travel on a three-day class trip to Massachusetts, the White Mountains of New Hampshire, and whitewater rafting in Maine beginning this weekend.
Events leading up to graduation include Class Night at 6:30 p.m., Wednesday, June 1, when scholarships and other awards will be presented, and a “surprise” senior excursion and photographs with Superintendent Tom Ward on Thursday.
