Bucksport shakes off EALL, 3-2


BUCKSPORT – Host Bucksport scored the winning run on an RBI triple in the final inning to hand Elliot Avenue Little League its first loss of the 13-14 year old state tournament Tuesday, 3-2.

Joe Sullivan pitched well but took the loss for EALL (1-1). Sullivan led the offense with a double and a single, while McKay Hyde had an RBI single.

EALL’s next game is scheduled for 1 p.m. on Thursday against Bangor.

Legion baseball

Gayton 14, Andy Valley 4

TURNER – Erik Waite pounded out four hits to lead an 18-hit attack as Gayton closed out the Zone III regular season with a 14-4 victory over Andy Valley.

Gayton (9-11) scored three runs in each of the first two innings to take command. Andy Valley cut the deficit to 6-4 in the third inning, but Gayton scored the game’s final eight runs to turn the game into a rout.

Travis Dyke and Eddie West chipped in with three hits. Four Gayton pitchers combined for a one-hitter. Luke Potter was credited with the win.

Zach Keene’s double was Andy Valley’s lone hit.
