Burglary suspects still missing in Oxford Hills

PARIS — Police are still seeking two suspects in an Oxford burglary who ran from police Tuesday and are believed to be carrying a gun.

Oxford police Chief Jonathan Tibbetts said Oxford Hills residents should consider Scott Bowie and an unknown companion dangerous and not approach them.

“They shouldn’t try to intervene. They should just call the local police department,” he said Wednesday.

The two suspects crashed a van on Paris Hill Road on Tuesday and fled into the woods near the Cornwall Nature Preserve. Tibbetts said the suspects are probably still in the area.

Tibbetts said Bowie’s companion is heavy-set and probably female. Bowie is 35 and about 160 pounds. He has a scar over his left eye, according to state records. Police believe Bowie and the companion took a 9mm handgun and ammunition, which is missing from an Oxford home they’re accused of robbing.

Tracking dogs from the Maine Warden Service and the Androscoggin County Sheriff’s Office were seeking out the suspects Tuesday. The Paris, Oxford and Norway police departments, the Oxford County Sheriff’s Office, the Maine State Police, the Warden Service and the Androscoggin County Sheriff’s Office are involved in the search.
