Canton Fire Department to host fest


CANTON – The Canton Volunteer Fire Department will host the fifth annual Canton Summer Fest on June 10 (rain date June 11) at the Canton Municipal Building and in the ball-field across the street.

Featured from 8 a.m. to noon will be an auto show with approximately 20 classes, including motorcycles, in the ball field. Registration fee is $5 for car, driver and one passenger.

Trophies for the top three in each class will be awarded. The auto show will go on rain or shine.

There will be a flea market/craft fair from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. in the municipal building Tables are available for $10 and $15. Events will include a bike parade, food, refreshments, games, moon bounce, dunk tank, women’s and girls’ fry-pan throwing contest, and husband and wife wheelbarrow race.

The Canton Jail will be open for lock ups. Music will be provided by DJ L.A. Music. Admission to the ballfield will be $3 for adults to age 12; age 11 to 6, $1; under 5, free. Children must be accompanied by an adult.

Whitney Masonic Lodge 167 will host a chicken barbecue at noon in front of the municipal building. Cost is $5 a meal.
