Carolyn H. Manchester Coady


LEWISTON – Carolyn H. Manchester Coady, 62, of South Paris died Thursday, July 26, at Central Maine Medical Center after a courageous battle with breast cancer. Her loving family was by her side.

She was born in Mechanic Falls on March 5, 1945, the daughter of Leonard and Evelyn Purington Harriman. She graduated from Mechanic Falls High School. She worked at several occupations throughout her life, and finally retired from the accounting department at Maine Public Broadcasting.

The job most important to her was being a loving and devoted mother to her children. She enjoyed cooking, knitting, gardening, theatre and spending time on the coast with her husband, Robert. She loved cookouts and time spent with her family, especially her grandchildren. She also enjoyed antique auctions.

She is survived by her son, Charles Manchester, and his companion, Lorri Smedberg, of South Paris and their children, Curtis and Lucas Manchester and Neuman Smedberg; her son, John Manchester, and his wife, Sue, of South Paris and their children, Jennifer, Wayne and Emily Manchester; her son, Ernest “Chip” Manchester III, and his wife, Angela, of South Paris and their children, Jeremy and Tyler McDevitt; her daughter, Katy Cilley, and her husband, Chris, of Greene; her beloved dog, Zoey; two sisters, Joanne Brown of Lewiston and Gloria French, and her husband, Brian, of Mechanic Falls; a brother, John Harriman, and his wife, Dot, of Westbrook; and many nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her parents; and her husband, Robert.
