CASCO — A Casco man was behind bars Sunday after leading authorities on a 22-mile chase involving speeds in excess of 90 mph.
Dana S. Manchester, 18, of Casco, was charged with eluding a police officer, operating after suspension, improper plates and traffic-related arrest warrants after leading deputies on a foot chase when his truck apparently ran out of gas.
The Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office reported Sunday that Deputy Andrew Feeney attempted to stop Manchester, who was driving a Ford pickup, at about 2 a.m. Sunday morning in Casco for suspicion of operating under the influence.
Manchester failed to stop and then led Feeney and other deputies on a chase spanning several towns, including Casco, Otisfield and Harrison. He even hit a deer at one point and continued eluding deputies until his truck finally ran out of gas in Harrison.
