PARIS - The Auburn YMCA Grade 5-6 girls' basketball team went undefeated in the second-annual Oxford Hills 3-on-3 tournament, held Sunday at Oxford Hills Comprehensive High School. Team personnel were Sarah Walton, Karli Stubbs, Jordyn Reynolds and Chloe Dwinell. Coaches were Bill Reynolds and Chuck Dwinell.

Corey to challenge for mixed martial arts title

NORWAY - Local mixed martial arts fighter Josh Corey will fight for the lightweight title this weekend at the Burlington (Vt.) Brawl VI.

After winning his MMA  match in Burlington this past July by defeating Jason Ingleston of Whitehall, N.Y., by submission, Corey is slated to fight Nick Massaro.

Ferris gets first deer

Oak Hill takes CMFL crown

READFIELD - Oak Hill Youth Football 5th and 6th grade Raiders beat the previously undefeated Maranacook Blackbears 12-7 for the CMFL championship Wednesday evening.

Maranacook took an early 7-0 lead on its first possession when Kyle Morang gained six yards on a quarterback keeper. Alex Dore added the PAT.

The score stayed that way untill late in the third quarter, when Colby Spencer broke loose for a 55-yard Oak Hill TD to make it 7-6.

Pallet pockets fall title

LEWISTON - BT Pallet captured the Lewiston Men's League softball fall championship. Pallet went 4-0 in the playoffs with wins over Mixers (24-9), East Coast Signs (16-4), Capsawn (21-1) and Capsawn again (19-6).

Capsawn finished second, with L/A Harley third.

Members of the BT Pallet team are Bob Martin, Heath Crocker, Scott Corriveau, Jon Vanier, Sean Hussey, Nick Dresser, Jesse St.Laurent, Greg Gilbert, Norm Roy, Jason Maxwell, Brian Ducharme and Deshawn Goyette.

LEWISTON - The Lewiston Jr. Maineiacs pee wee travel hockey team stayed unbeaten with a pair of road wins last weekend.

Lewiston walked away from Sukee Arena in Winslow with a convincing 8-2 win over Central Maine. Caleb Labrie led the way for Lewiston with three goals and one assists. Cody Woodward added two goals and two assists. Brendon Croteau chipped in a goal and an assist. Kyle Morin and Kyle Ullrich rounded out the scoring with one goal apiece. Jozef Frechette and Jed Drapeau each notched an assist. Kyle Welsh was the winning netminder.

Pearson produces ace

BERWICK - Jace Pearson of Auburn produced a hole-in-one in the Maine State Golf Association tournament last weekend, played at the Links at Outlook. Pearson registered his ace on the 142-yard 14th hole. Steve Fleck, Charlie Witonis and Dan Charron were witnesses. Pearson also set a course record with a 63. Tournament results:

The inaugural Jamie Benson Awards were presented last month. The award goes to one 7th or 8th-grade boy and girl who show a constant work ethic during soccer practice and games, have the ability to be a team player, are honest and compassionate toward others, and have a genuine love and competitiveness for soccer. These recipients received a plaque and a $200 scholarship to a sports camp of their choice. The two winners were Llewellyn Jensen and Olivia Paione, both seventh-graders.

Auburn youth football wraps up campaign

AUBURN - In the last week of Auburn Youth Football in the Grade 5-6 division, Auburn White defeated AYF Falcons, 6-0, in a round-robin format.

C.J. Jipson hit Drew Lashua with a 55-yard touchdown pass, with Lashua making an outstanding catch. Jack Coyne, Noah Yarnevich and Isaac Lapointe led a tough Auburn White defense.

Hartt defends title

Hartt Transportation recently defended its Auburn Sportsman League championship. After finishing the regular season in second place, Hartt stormed through the winners bracket to take the crown. Along the way, Hartt defeated regular season champions Major Automotive before beating the S & D Sheet Metal Sharks, 19-4, in the championship game.
