AUBURN – Cecile L. Cote, 92, formerly of 589 College St., Lewiston, died Friday, May 19, at the Hospice House of Androscoggin Home Care and Hospice.

She was born in Lewiston on March 3, 1914, the daughter of Archille and Dorilla Duchesneau Dupuis. She was educated in local schools.

She was married on Sept. 5, 1936, to Willie J. Cote. They celebrated 64 years of marriage until his death on Dec. 6, 2000. Together they owned and operated Cote’s Dairy from 1936 until their retirement. They traveled to Europe and Hawaii and spent 20 winters in St. Petersburg, Fla.

Cecile was an accomplished seamstress and enjoyed knitting, crocheting, ceramics, making crafts and flower gardening. She loved entertaining their many friends, and especially family at their camp at Tripp Lake, which they enjoyed for 50 years. Her love of family gathered everyone for lobster feeds and rides on their barge.

She is survived by a daughter, Simone Taylor and husband, James, of Cornish; three sons, Roland Cote and wife, Pauline, Raymond Cote and wife, Rachel, and Paul Cote and wife, Nancy, all of Lewiston; 10 grandchildren, Dan, Steve, Bill, John Cote, Gene Rancourt, Pam Soucy, Kathy Guarniery, Christine Gaskill, and Lisa and Diane Cote; and also 15 great-grandchildren.

She was predeceased by an infant son, Paul; granddaughter, Suzanne Cote; grandson, Kevin Rancourt; three sisters, Jeannette McDermott, Noella Cliche and Lucienne Szenkum; and a daughter-in-law, Nancy Cote.

The Cote family wishes to thank all the “angels” at the Hospice House for their loving care of Cecile during her 11 days there.
