FRYEBURG — The Oxford County Soil and Water Conservation District invites construction contractors and landscapers to attend a certification workshop on “Basic and Advanced Erosion and Sediment Control Practices.” The workshop will be held from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Thursday, April 8, at the Fryeburg Rescue Barn, 89 Bridgton Road.
The workshop will provide classroom instruction in current guidelines and standards for contractor compliance with Maine’s new Erosion and Sediment Control Law. By attending a basic and advanced session, contractors will qualify to become certified by the Department of Environmental Protection in erosion and sediment control practices.
Participating contractors will join a growing number of more than 500 individuals and 14 companies in Maine who are certified in erosion control practices by the DEP. Certification enables them to obtain accelerated permitting under the DEP’s Permit-by-Rule Program, discounts on erosion control products from four suppliers and free advertising for their businesses by being listed on the DEP certified contractors list found on the State of Maine’s Web site.
The cost of the workshop is $35 each person and will include refreshments, lunch and printed training materials. Register by calling Michele Windsor at the Oxford County Soil and Water Conservation District at 743-5789, ext. 1 or e-mail email@example.com.
Space is limited and preregistration is required. Checks may be made payable to: OCSWCD, 1570 Main St. Suite 10, Oxford, ME 04270. Registration may also be submitted online at www.oxfordswcd.net.
