Chaplain, manager join Beacon Hospice


LEWISTON – Beacon Hospice Inc. welcomes a new chaplain and a new account manager to its Lewiston office.

Raymond Edwards has joined the staff as chaplain. Edwards has a bachelor of arts degree in communications from the University of Rhode Island at Providence, and a masters of divinity from Vanderbilt Divinity School in Nashville, Tenn.

He did his clinical pastoral education training at the Veterans Administration Medical Center in Nashville. As chaplain, Edwards will assist patients and families with spiritual issues regarding life and death.

Mary Lou Hofmann is the new account manager. She has a bachelor of arts degree in English from Gettysburg College in Gettysburg, Pa., and a masters in education from Framingham State College in Framingham, Mass.

She has more than 25 years in the computer and health-care industries supporting the needs of clients and facilitating customer focused relationships.

She will develop and manage relationships with referral sources and provide awareness and education to referral sources and the community at large on the Medicare hospice benefit and issues associated with quality end of life care.

Beacon Hospice Inc. is a Medicare, Medicaid and CHAP certified hospice program providing end-of-life care. Beacon provides services to patients and families in central and southern Maine from its offices in York, Portland and Lewiston.
