AUBURN – The fall wedding of Kyla Kimberly Chapman and Matthew Thomas Simard was held on the afternoon of Oct. 1 at the First Universalist Church in Auburn. Jon Arey, long-time friend of the bride’s family, officiated at the ceremony.

The bride is the daughter of Kimble Chapman and the late Wendi White of Monmouth. The bridegroom is the son of Joan Simard of Auburn and Thomas Simard of Lewiston.

The bride was given in marriage by her father. She wore a strapless, beaded, lace-up Mori Lee pearl gown and carried a flowing bouquet of Stargazer lilies, Gerber daisies and cream roses.

Jade Estes, cousin and life-long friend of the bride, had the role of maid of honor, and bridesmaids were Kimberly Burgess, best friend of the bride, Meghan Simard, sister-in-law, and Robyn Putnam and Leah Billington, close friends. Four-year-old daughter, Autumn, was flower girl and walked down the aisle dropping fall leaves. Ring bearers were Justyce and Hart St. Claire, nephews of the bride.

Standing at the side of the bridegroom at the altar was Matthew Simpson, his best friend. Groomsmen were life-long friends Stephen Adamson, Ryan Cook and Mike Reid, and college friends, James Garrett and Jonathan Lord.

The reception, immediately following the ceremony, was held at Martindale Country Club in Auburn. Their entrance led into their first dance as husband and wife to Van Morrison’s “These Are the Days,” followed by a celebration with their family and friends. They spent their honeymoon in Puerto Valharta, Mexico.

The bride is a 1999 graduate of Monmouth Academy and went on to attend Maine College of Art for a year. She is currently certified as a habitational/behavioral specialist and works with children with disabilities.

The bridegroom is a 1998 graduate of Edward Little High School and went on to Colby College for four years, from which he graduated with a degree in economics in 2002. He is currently employed as a financial advisor with Merrill Lynch.

The couple is residing with their daughter in Auburn and are excitedly expecting a new addition to their family around the same time as their first wedding anniversary.
