LITCHFIELD — Chester “Chet” Danforth passed away Friday, May 14.
Chet was born on Dec. 7, 1931, at home in Litchfield to Chester and Cecelia (Wentzell) Danforth. He attended Litchfield schools.
He was married to Grace Eva Tenney, who passed away in 2007.
He was employed by the Maine Turnpike Authority for 37 years, retiring in 1992 to care for his wife.
Chet was a past member of the Litchfield Trail Winders and past volunteer for the Litchfield Fire Dept.
He was an avid Yankee and Nascar, Bill Elliott fan.
Chet is survived by his two sons, Alton of Standish, and Jay Danforth of Litchfield; two daughters, Rose Gray and her husband, Randy, of Skowhegan, and Julie Blais and her husband, Mike, of Litchfield; four sisters, Virginia Porter, Dorothy Wright, Annie Getchell and Rowena Ridley; grandchildren, Olivia, Amy, Rodney, Eric, Jayson, Jessica, Amber, Elaine, Beth and Angelique; great-grandchildren, Charles, Brooke, K’Lee and Justin; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was predeceased by his wife; parents; a daughter, Susan Elaine Danforth; grandsons, Randy Danforth and Tracey Gray; great-grandson, Michael Warren; a brother, Clarence Danforth; and a sister, Louise Vannah.
