CHESTERVILLE — The North Chesterville Extension Homemakers donated 15 blankets to the Fire Department during Thursday night’s selectmen meeting.
“It’s one of the things we like to do for the community,” member Glenda Barker said. “We try to do whatever (emergency responders) need.”
Barker said one member asked former Fire Chief Edward Hastings IV if the department needed blankets and he said they could use 10.
The homemakers decided to make blankets for Farmington, too, after learning other county groups couldn’t do it.
“Farmington recently had a fire with two kids involved,” Barker said. “It was cold. The kids could have wrapped up in a blanket and kept it afterward.”
Blankets were made from donated fleece; others were crocheted. There are sizes for babies, children and adults. The group worked on them at the Town Office. Linda Brown did a big part of the work, Barker said.
“Thank you for doing this,” Hastings told members Thursday.
